Good to know
Frequently asked questions
A few of the things people ask us most often. If your question isn't here, just call or send us a message — we're happy to talk it through.
What areas do you cover?
We cover London and the surrounding areas — Chiswick, Ealing, Hammersmith, Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Richmond and many more. If you're not sure whether you're in our patch, send us a quick request and we'll let you know.
Are you NICEIC approved?
Yes. We're a NICEIC-approved contractor, so our work is regularly assessed against the current wiring regulations and we can issue the certificates that landlords and insurers ask for.
How often should a fire alarm system be serviced?
Most commercial fire alarm systems should be inspected and serviced at least every six months by a competent person, although some buildings, systems or risk assessments may require more frequent visits. Weekly user tests are usually carried out by the responsible person on site. SES can set up a suitable servicing schedule and keep the logbook and certification up to date.
Can you set up planned fire safety and electrical compliance maintenance?
Yes. SES can set up planned maintenance visits for fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, EICRs, remedial works, thermographic surveys and other compliance items. We help landlords, managing agents, businesses and places of worship keep inspections, servicing and paperwork organised so important dates do not get missed.
What is a thermographic survey?
A thermographic survey uses a thermal imaging camera to identify overheating electrical components, loose connections, overloaded circuits and other potential faults before they fail. It is non-invasive and is often used for commercial premises, distribution boards and larger electrical installations as part of planned maintenance or insurance-led compliance.
How do I get a quote?
Fill in the request form with a few details about the job. We'll ask anything we need, arrange to take a look where necessary, and give you a clear price and a straight answer on timing.
How does an EICR work?
We test your wiring and give you a clear report on what's safe, what needs attention and what your options are. Anything urgent is flagged plainly, and we'll talk you through any remedial work before we do it — no surprises.
How much does an EICR cost?
The cost of an EICR depends on the type and size of the property, the number of circuits, access, and whether previous records are available. A small domestic or landlord EICR will usually cost less than a commercial premises, HMO, church or larger managed building. SES can give a clear price once we know the property details.
Do you service AOV systems?
Yes, SES can inspect, test and maintain AOV systems where appropriate, including checking operation, controls and integration with the fire alarm system. If the system requires specialist manufacturer support or replacement parts, we'll tell you clearly and advise on the next step.
Can you help with remedial works after a fire risk assessment or EICR?
Yes. SES regularly helps landlords, businesses, managing agents and places of worship deal with remedial works after fire risk assessments, EICRs and other inspections. We'll explain what needs doing, what is urgent, and how to get the property back into a safe and compliant condition.
Need it looked at properly?
Tell us what's going on and we'll give you a clear answer on what's needed, what it'll cost and when we can do it.
